Anneliseweb.net

I might as well rename the domain. Let's face it, that's all anyone is coming here to read about now anyway.

There are new pics of Annelise on our photo album. You'll have to go to the 2nd page. Again, the pics aren't very action packed. We mostly are just trying to keep her happy. Jen feeds her and all I can do is let her sleep on me.

She is spending more time awake and not crying, which is kind of neat. She just looks around seemingly amazed by everything.

This one is the best comparison between us that you'll get.

Jen and I were talking tonight about how strange that 3 weeks ago tonight, we were in the hospital having her.

Pilot Light

My weatherbug is telling me it's 45 degrees tonight. That's the coldest night of the season so far. I went under the gas fireplace and lit our pilot light. I've done it 5 times now in this house, and I think this time it took the longest to do it right. Seems like I would get better at it each time. Oh well. I flipped the switch right after getting it lit and just like that we had fire.

Things have been a little crazy lately. Annelise is doing great. She has gained back to her birthweight now. It's going to be a strange thing to watch her grow up. I know it will happen fast and I only pray that I will have the wisdom to appreciate each stage as it's happening rather than getting wrapped up in the day to day.

Work has been extremely busy. This is a good thing in general, I like having plenty to do. But in this case it has been a little extreme. Hopefully things will cool down for the next few weeks at least. I came home around 9:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday of this week. This is not the best thing to be doing with a new baby. But Jen is doing great with her. I try to do what I can each evening to help out.

Annelise is sleeping better and better it seems. She is already kind of spoiled. She likes sleeping on mommy.

She really dislikes sleeping directly in the bassinet for some reason. We have found a reasonable solution though. We put her in her bouncy chair and put that in the bassinet. She seems satisfied with that for a few precious hours sometimes.

We have also started taking her to the lake with Cooper. She goes to sleep as soon as we start walking her in the stroller and wakes up when we get back. She seems to love the constant moving. The stroller has a canopy that you can completely cover her with, it seems really cozy in there.

I keep getting requests for more and more baby pics. I guess this is validation that we aren't the only ones who think Annelise is cute. I'll post more by this weekend, I promise.

Cameron,
Thank you for lighting the pilot light tonight. It was so nice to wake up and see the fire glowing and feel the warmth coming from it. Of course, I'm finding it fairly easy to stay warm these days since I almost always have a certain cuddlebug attached to me. :) Now to try to get some sleep before she realizes that I put her down. I love you!

More Pics of Annelise

Due to popular demand here are more pics of Annelise. Thanks again to everyone who has visited and helped out. We haven't cooked a meal for ourselves yet!

Almost all of these pics have someone either holding her or she is sleeping. Not too much excitement yet.

Baby Day Journal

As I mentioned in the previous post, I recorded kind of a log of events from the day Annelise was born. If you are interested in reading it here is the link.

Baby Pics

We had a ton of visitors today. Thanks to everyone who came to the hospital to see Annelise and to those who have been thinking of us and praying for us.

Ok, I started to write an official longer baby post here as a blog entry. Before I knew what happened, I had typed about 3 pages worth of material and was just getting to the part where the labor started. It's 2 in the morning now so I am going to finish it tomorrow and post it as an html page on the site, rather than a ridiculously long blog entry.

I hope you'll check back tomorrow to read it. Or at least skim through it. After all, there are so many questions to be answered. Will the "TaborTot" be Brenton or Annelise? When will Annelise be coming home? What time was she born? What does she look like? Ok, there is almost no reason to actually read it except for your curiosity about what our special day was like from my perspective.

Now, against my better judgement, I am posting a few first day pics. As Dana alluded in the earlier post, I told everyone I wouldn't post first day pics. My uncle Paul even said to me today on the phone that they all look like Winston Churchill for the first few days.

Let's face it, it's impossible for a father to look at his baby girl objectively. She is adorable to me. In spite of the fact that almost everyone says she looks like me. Before you start feeling sorry for her, remember, she has plenty of years to grow out of that. So, without further ado, here they are, the first pics of Annelise Erin Tabor at about 24 hours old.

Baby Day!

Jen woke me up this morning at about 5:30 and said, "Cameron we're going to have a baby sometime today." Now I must say, that is something you will hear a very limited amount of times in your life. She then told me that the water broke, she had been up cleaning the house for about an hour. Apparently this is the last phase of nesting that takes place.

She is not having contractions yet, but they won't let it go but so long after the water breaks without inducing so I think it's safe to say that the TaborTot's birthday will be October 9th, 2005 or October 10th at the latest.

We're just making preparations now for when the time comes to go to the hospital. The next entry will have an official name and birthday!

Turkey Trot... Part 1

What and odd title, I am just as excited as you are to find out what this entry is about.

Just kidding, I already know. I've been tossing around the idea in my head of running the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 10K (6.2 miles). Jen and I ran it last year, and we had a good time. It's a great excuse to get in some kind of shape going into the holidays.

The reason I was not so sure is because of all the uncertainty that is coming up with the baby. I don't know if I'll have time to train for it. After talking to Jen about it, I have decided to go for it. I've been running about 3 miles a few times a week. My goal is to finish in under 60 minutes. If I heard myself say that about 5 years ago, I would laugh and call myself a wimp, but it turns out the reality of the situation is that running gets harder with age and weight.

Anyway, part 2 of this post will be a post-race rundown, that is of course if I am able to train over the next month and a half.

I put together our bassinet/playpen for the TaborTot last night, that thing took about an hour. I consider myself mechanically inclined, but that thing was kicking my butt. It didn't help that the instructions were in 5 different languages, all on each page. Next time I go to put it together, it should only take about 5 minutes, now that I know how everything goes.

Good deal on the Turkey Trot. I have never run an anything official except the Shamrock 8k. It sounds like it could be fun.

Isn't is funny how simple you think certain tasks should be? For example, remedial playpen assembly. There is always some snag or little bump in the road that throws the (should be) 25 minute project into an hour.

I would totally run this with you if I didn't think that I would keep you from finishing in under 60 minutes. I did a 5K last year for United Way's Day of Caring. I finished 3.1 miles in like 24-26 minutes, but it was terribly painful.

Last Baby Shower

Today the gang from our Sunday school class hosted a couples baby shower for us. It's the last of the 3, count them 3 baby showers that we had. We are blessed to have so many friends and family that wanted to help welcome the TaborTot.

Special thanks to Barry and Sandy for hosting it at their house, and to Andrea and Colleen for organizing it.

Also I wanted to thank Jen C. for the gift she gave us last night when we were over their house. She made this bear completely from scratch. We can tell it took some serious time. Now, to figure out how to keep Cooper from chewing it's cute little face off. Until now every stuffed animal in the house has been his, we're all going to have to make some adjustments.
